Nevada Chapter Associated General Contractors adopts technology for jobsite safety inspections

The Nevada Chapter Associated General Contractors (AGC) had a vision to build a program to promote jobsite safety and culture. In 2008 that vision became a reality when the Nevada Chapter AGC’s safety committee started a voluntary initiative called the AGC Safe Site Program. Safe Site allows AGC members to voluntarily go through an extensive jobsite safety evaluation. “In 2008 there was a lot of negativity surrounding the number of construction deaths in Southern Nevada,” said Eric Scolari, AGC safety committee chairman. “We wanted to create a safety culture among our members in northern Nevada to continue to keep safety top of mind. Our goal is for AGC chapters around the country to also adopt the Safe Site Program,” said Scolari.

At the time, the safety committee was not using specific software to survey its members or to create reports. “CHSI Technologies came to us and offered the Evaluate program,” said Scolari. The Evaluate software program is used to create customized inspection checklists and personalized survey reports. With Evaluate, loss control professionals create user-defined checklists with their own criteria for performance and measurement.  A completed checklist generates a personalized survey report tailored for a member’s specific operations and needs.  Checklists can be accessed in the office or on a jobsite using a PDA or a Smartphone.  Images and documents can also be attached for a complete and professional survey report that graphically displays results.
